Software Release: Version 1.2 (Jan 3, 2001)

Requirements:

1. Windows 95/98/NT 4.0(SP3 or later)/XP with Internet FTP connection enabled (dial-up or direct). Customers should be able to connect to FTP sites from the computer system in which the software will be installed.

2. Internet connection through some proxy/firewall configurations may cause the USResult.Net software not to establish connection with University Services server properly.

Steps:

  1. Install and configure ONE of the following clients first before installing USResult.Net software
    1. PGP
    2. OpenSSL Client
    3. S/MIME Client
    4. WinZip Client
  2. Download and install USResult.Net Software

Part 1 - Install and configure ONE of the following clients

PGP Client:

"PGP is a product everyone knows and trusts, and after we evaluated it, we knew it was clearly the right answer." – Hugh Fraser, Head of IT Security, BAE Systems

1) Download the PGP software. PGP Downloads Select your operating system, and follow the links, make sure you also download the GnuPG 1.2.2 client as well.

2) Install the PGP client, then extract the GnuPG 1.2.2 zip file to that folder, also, place the gpg.exe in the windows folder (c:\windows; c:\WINNT; …)

3) You may need to create a public and private key. If given the option, choose to not create a key at this point. You will need to create a set of keys later, however, the name of the key must be in a certain format. After you contact University Services (see bottom of page), the name you must use for your key will be assigned. At that point, you should create your key. Open up the PGP client and under the Keys tab select New Key. Follow the on screen instructions and answer the questions to generate a unique key, using the assigned key name as you name.

4) In the PGP client, click the Keys tab and select Export. Click the check box to include private key, and change the directory to the windows directory, then click save.

5) Open command prompt. From the command prompt, type: gpg --homedir <windows directory> --import <Name of key>.asc. Next, type: gpg --homedir <windows directory> --edit-key <Name of key>. When the new prompt comes up, type: trust, hit enter, type: 5, hit enter, then type: save.

6) You will now need to send that key (<Name of Key>.asc) as an attachment to ftp@uservices.com in order for University Services to encrypt the files using your key, thus ensuring, you are the only one who may decrypt the files. Please include your name and address in your email along with the attachment file.

OpenSSL Client:

1) Download and extract the OpenSSL client. OpenSSL to the windows directory (c:\windows; c:\winnt; …)

2) You will need to create a certificate for encrypting and decrypting files. Follow the instruction of the MakingCertificate.txt file.

3) You will need to enter some information to define your certificate and make it authentic.

4) You will then need to send the newcert.pem file as an attachment to ftp@uservices.com in order for University Services to encrypt the files using your certificate. Please include your name and address in your email along with the attachment file.

S/MIME Client:

"S/MIME is a specification for secure electronic messaging. S/MIME is short for Secure Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions. The specification was designed to be easily integrated into e-mail and messaging products. S/MIME builds security on top of the industry standard MIME protocol according to an equally important set of cryptographic standards, the Public Key Cryptography Standards (PKCS). The fact that S/MIME was created using other standards is important for something that is likely to be widely implemented. Several S/MIME clients are available." - RSA Data Security News Release.

1) Download the World Secure software - wsc30se.exe

2) The file is a self-extracting file.

3) Double-click on the file and follow the instructions.

4) In module selection "uncheck" Eudora, Exchange and Lotus Notes Plug-ins

5) Run WorldSecure client from the WorldSecure program group

6) The first time you run the software you will be asked to generate an S/MIME key pair. Select Yes. Select a passphrase to protect your private key. University Services prefers you select a one-word password that you can easily remember and no one else can guess.

7) The key generation wizard comes up. Select "self signed key" and click next. Now you will be prompted to enter an username for the certificate (first name and last name). Next, select key size as 1024 bits. The next screen will generate the key. Follow the instruction in generating the key pair. Click Next and the key is generated. Click on Finish.

8) The generated key pair is now available. It will show your name as "Current User" on the main screen of the WorldSecure client.

9) Select Tools and then Certificate Manager from the menu. Select the self signed certificate and click on export. This will export your certificate to a file with "*.p7c" extension. Enter a filename and click ok. Now copy the file on a disk and store it in a safe place. Send this file as an attachment to ftp@uservices.com in order for University Services to encrypt the files using this certificate. Please include your name and address in your email along with the attachment file.

10) Copy <Drive>:\Program Files\Worldtalk\WorldSecure Client\smimer.exe to the <Drive>:\<Windows_Directory>\smimer.exe. The windows directory may be <Drive>:\winnt\ for Windows NT or <Drive>:\windows\ for Windows 95/98. <Drive> can be any of the valid hard disk drives in which Windows and Worldtalk secure are installed.

WinZip Client:

1) Download a NON-Evaluation version of WinZip.

2) Double Click on the install file to install WinZip. You must also have the command line clients installed (wzzip.exe; wzunzip.exe) from the wzcline.exe file. Place wzunzip.exe in your windows directory (c:\windows; c:\winnt; …)

Part 2 - USResult.Net Installation

1. Download the self-extracting file of the client you wish to use:

    1. S/MIME: USSetup.exe
    2. PGP: USResultPGP.EXE
    3. OpenSSL: USResultSSL.EXE
    4. WinZip: USResultWZ.EXE

-All versions also available on disk. You can obtain the installation disks by calling our MIS department at (215) 637-6800.

2. Save the downloaded file in a directory such as c:\temp\usftp\

3. Double-click on the file (for example, c:\temp\usftp\ussetup.exe)

4. Follow the instructions on the screen

5. Run USResult.Net from the USResult.Net Program group

6. Call 215-637-6800 to setup an account with University Services to retrieve the files

The software is designed so that you can save the settings to a file. The Logon name, password and the download directory are encrypted and saved to this settings file. For security reasons, the "decrypt passphrase" will not be saved to the settings file. You need to enter the passphrase every time you connect to our server to download the files.

The downloaded files are automatically decrypted and stored in the local download directory. You can then process this file to either generate a report or update your in-house drug testing results database.

University Services offers five types of file format - Full Report and Raw Data versions.

Advanced Features:

The software can also be run from the command line prompt. This will facilitate clients who would like to automate the download process. Please follow this procedure to run the software from the command line.

1. First run USResult.Net program from the USResult.Net Program group. Input the logon name, password and select the directory where you want to store the downloaded files in the "local directory" section on the main screen. Click on "Save Settings". This will save the encrypted logon name, password and local directory in the settings file.

2. Next open Command Prompt window. Type:

  1. S/MIME: "C:\USResult.Net\usftp.exe /f=usftp.ini /dp=<decrypt_password>" and hit ENTER.
  2. PGP: "C:\USResult.Net\USftpPGP.exe /f=usftp.ini /dp=<decrypt_password>" and hit ENTER.
  3. OpenSSL: "C:\USResult.Net\USftpSSL.exe /f=usftp.ini /dp=<decrypt_password>" and hit ENTER.
  4. WinZip: "C:\USResult.Net\USftpWZ.exe /f=usftp.ini /dp=<decrypt_password>" and hit ENTER.

The <decrypt_password> is the passphrase/password that you selected during step (6) of the worldsecure installation process, or the password you have assigned to your PGP key, OpenSSL certificate, or WinZip encryption. Please note that the passphrase should be one-word.

This will automatically download the files, decrypt the downloaded files and save them in the local download directory that you specified in Step 1.

3. If you do not want to follow step 1 to save the settings to a file, you can still use the command line option by specifying the logon name, password, download directory and the decryption password all in one line as given below.

  1. S/MIME: "C:\USResult.Net\usftp.exe /u=<logname> /p=<password> /dir=<local download directory> /dp=<decrypt_password>"
  2. PGP: "C:\USResult.Net\USftpPGP.exe /u=<logname> /p=<password> /dir=<local download directory> /dp=<decrypt_password>"
  3. OpenSSL: "C:\USResult.Net\USftpSSL.exe /u=<logname> /p=<password> /dir=<local download directory> /dp=<decrypt_password>"
  4. WinZip: "C:\USResult.Net\USftpWZ.exe /u=<logname> /p=<password> /dir=<local download directory> /dp=<decrypt_password>"
